Celebrities‍‍‍‍` battle in election field

Although celebrities have been involved in the national election campaigns for several years, the battle of the celebrities in the 12th National Parliamntary elections this year was quite eye-catching. Despite the surprise in the campaign, not everyone won in the end. Many have won after a hard fight, and many have lost. There have also been incidents like confiscation of someone‍‍`s bail. Let‍‍`s take a look at who lost and who won.

Asaduzzaman Noor

Cultural personnel Asaduzzaman was elected as the Member of Parliament for the fifth time. He has been representing Awami League in the Parliament since 2001. This actor won from Nilphamari-2 seat. Asaduzzaman Noor was elected unofficially by getting 1 lakh 19 thousand 339 votes. He defeated his nearest rival independent candidate Joynal Abedin by a huge margin. Joynal got only 15 thousand 684 votes in the truck symbol.

Ferdous Ahmed 

Actor Ferdous became a parliamentary candidate for the first time. This actor contested in Dhaka-10 constituency with the boat symbol of Awami League. He won the 12th National Assembly election for the first time. He got 65 thousand 898 votes. His nearest rival National People‍‍`s Party candidate Shamsul Alam got 2 thousand 257 votes with mango symbol.

Momtaz Begum

Since 2014, Momtaz has been serving as a Member of Parliament in Manikganj-2 Constituency. Even though she became MP for three consecutive terms and lost to Dewan Zahid Ahmed Tulu, an independent candidate. She fought for Bangladesh Awami League with the boat symbol. Dewan Zahid Ahmed, an independent candidate of the party, won unofficially after defeating Momtaz Begum. He got 88 thousand 309 votes. His nearest rival Awami League candidate Momtaz Begum got 82 thousand 138 votes.

Mahiya Mahi

This is not the first time the actress participated in the election. She got only 9 thousand 9 votes from Rajshahi-1 seat. Awami League candidate Omar Farooq Chowdhury has been elected as her closest rival. He got 1 lakh 3 thousand 592 votes. First, Mahiya Mahi collected the nomination form from Chapainawabganj-2 constituency on behalf of Awami League, but General Secretary Obaidul Quader‍‍`s name was not in the announced nomination list. She later collected nomination papers from Rajshahi-1 Constituency (Independent).

Doli Sayontoni

Singer Doli Sayontoni participated in the election from Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM) in Pabna-2 constituency. She got only 4 thousand 382 votes. Awami League‍‍`s boat symbol candidate Feroz Kabir has won this seat. He got 1 lakh 65 thousand 842. The singer boycotted the vote alleging irregularities during voting.
